Our Story

Belonging shouldn’t have to be earned.

Sensory Canada began with a simple, repeated experience: families, individuals, and community members turning down invitations — not because they didn’t want to be there, but because the space, the sound, the information, or the pace made it impossible.

So the answer wasn’t another event with accessibility bolted on. It was a platform built the other way around: design the experience for the person who is usually left out, and everyone else has a better time too.

Why We Exist

A two-part vision for accessibility in Alberta.

Sensory Canada works in two directions at once: practical change through consulting and certification, and sustainable support through a community endowment.

01

Consulting & Certification

We work with corporations, organizations, buildings, and events to create meaningful accessibility standards through education, consulting, and Sensory accessibility certification. Our goal is to help establish a more universal standard for accessibility across Alberta, so our children, families, and communities can grow up in places where everyone truly belongs.

02

Sustainable Endowment

We are building a sustainable endowment that supports founding community partners across Alberta. As the fund grows, we will welcome additional organizations and continue expanding our collective impact.

Sensory Canada is being built together. Every person in this founding community brings a different perspective, and we believe that collective potential can help shape what accessibility looks like across Alberta.

Core Values

What we hold ourselves to.

These values guide planning, partnership, event design, and how we talk about the people we serve.

Accessibility First

Access is designed in at the start — not added at the end, and never treated as a favour.

Dignity & Belonging

People arrive as they are. Support is offered without spectacle, explanation, or apology.

Creative Expression

Art, music, movement, and storytelling are how people connect when words are not the only language.

Collaboration

Nonprofits, artists, families, businesses, and advocates build this together rather than in parallel.

Community Reinvestment

What the platform generates goes back into accessible experiences for Alberta communities.

Transparency

Clear information, clear expectations, and clear communication before, during, and after every experience.
